Start with the component and its purpose.
Describe how the part is used, which features are critical and what information is available. Sample parts, scans, existing drawings and CAD can support the review. Wear, damage and mating conditions must be considered when interpreting original design intent.
Establish a production baseline. Measurement and engineering review support CAD and drawing development. Material, finish and acceptance requirements are agreed before manufacturing. A prototype or first article may validate the proposed component before recurring orders are planned.​
